Hello to all!
My name is Michelle and I’m the proud artist and owner of The Sapphire Emporium. My shop is a place for unusual and hand-crafted pieces that can enhance your home and personal collections. I love working with my clients and wanted to tell those who don’t already know me a bit about myself.
I was raised in New England, which led to an interest is history and to travel. I’ve spent time living in Nevada, Florida, and currently reside in upstate New York. I have a background in stage design and costuming and even worked for the Walt Disney Company for five years. I actually met my husband, Rick, at Epcot Center! However, I’ve always wanted to teach and share my interests with others so, for the past several decades, I've been a teacher in elementary and middle school settings. After a great career, my husband and I both recently retired from the teaching profession and are now blessed to be able to follow other passions, namely, creating décor, travel. and hunting for unique and interesting items for The Sapphire Emporium.
Because my husband and I are aware of the need to save our beautiful country for the next generations, we try to use recycled and reclaimed materials whenever possible in our hand-crafted pieces. Where some see an old pallet, we see a one-of-a-kind coat rack. Where some see an old bucket, we see a delightful planter. We enjoy traveling to out-of-the-way locations and sourcing existing items as much as we enjoy creating our own.
